Developmental (U6 / U8)
FASA offers a youth program for players interested in playing soccer. The
program teaches the basics of soccer with an emphasis on developing a love for
the game by having fun. The program consists of one evening practice each week
and games on Saturday morning. Both practices and games are held at
Freeport Community Park.
If you have any questions regarding the Developmental program or are interested in
being a head or assistant coach contact the U6 / U8 Commissioner, Sam O'Donnell at
[email protected]
Community (U10)
The community soccer program gives players the
opportunity to begin to play on a “full field” with six players and a goalkeeper, with certified referees
officiating the games and playing against other communities around the area (i.e Highlands, Fox Chapel, Hampton,
etc.)
Practices will be held once or twice a week, depending on the particular coach, with games being on
either Saturday or Sunday depending on the league that is available. Players will need to purchase a jersey,
which can be used for multiple seasons. Information regarding uniforms will be sent prior to the start of the
season.

Travel (U12 & Older)
At the U12 level and higher games become more
competitive playing similar teams and clubs season to season. Practices are held typically twice a week
and games are played on Sunday starting after Noon.
U12 plays 9 v 9, with a size 4 ball and on a smaller field. U14 and up will play 11 v 11, with a size 5
ball and will play on the standard size field you see in High School. The games begin to get longer with U12
playing 30 minute halves, U14 playing 35, U16 playing 40 minutes and U18 playing the standard 45 minute halves
you see in the World Cup, Premier League and MLS.
